Window Cleaning Methods
At Soap and Blade we offer two methods of window cleaning: Traditional and Reach and Wash. Below are some details about these methods and our experience in using them.
Traditional Window Cleaning
Traditional Window Cleaning is a tried and tested method used for decades. It consists of the manual application of cleaning solution to a window followed by the use of a window cleaning blade to wipe away the solution and clean the glass. The resulting finish is very tidy and streak free. At Soap and Blade we use this method mainly for our work at commercial premises. We have experience with this technique cleaning shop windows in one of the biggest shopping centres in London and along London's inner city high streets.
Reach and Wash Window Cleaning
Reach and Wash Window Cleaning is a more up to date method. It involves purified water and carbon-composite water-fed poles with cleaning brushes attached. The use of purified water prevents any streaks or residue as it's molecules are ionised and thus more structured to bond with dirt and grime. In this way windows are cleaned efficiently and left to dry naturally, resulting in a polished streak-free sparkling finish. The extendable pole method reduces the need for ladders and thus makes it safer for the window cleaner and prevents falls or accidents. At Soap and Blade we have used this technique in many types of residential properties in North-West London, Elstree and Borehamwood.

Tope Odeleye gained a BSc degree in audiology from Univeristy College London and is a member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. He also served voluntarily for several years as a software license manager for the most widely distributed magazine in the world. Along with his wife he set up Soap and Blade Window Cleaning so that he could devote more time to voluntary charity work while pursuing a vocation that involves key factors such as interacting with all kinds of people, organisational efficiency, real-time results, and satisfied customers. He hopes to bring a smile and a sparkle to his clients and their windows!

Do you have a cancellation fee?
We ask our clients to give us 48 hour notice, if they need to cancel or reschedule the service. No cancellation fees are applied if done within this time.
Are you insured?
At Soap and Blade we are fully insured and trained to a very high standard. We aim to leave you with a sparkling spot free finish.
Do I have to be home when you come to clean my windows?

Why don't you wipe the windows when using the water-fed pole?
Since the water we use is purified there is absolutely no need to wipe the windows down as they will naturally evaporate leaving no residue at all.
How often should I get my windows cleaned?
At Soap and Blade we recommend getting your windows done monthly or at the very most every 6 weeks. Why so? Well we brush our teeth regularly to maintain good oral hygiene and an environment free from odour causing bacteria. Likewise keeping your window maintenance regular will prevent dirt from building up, it will also keep your house looking neat and clean (we all know first impressions count a lot in today's society) and will prevent us from having to spend longer (and thus costing you more) to deal with a big dirt and dust build up.
Do you clean windows even when the weather is bad?
Yes. You clean your teeth every morning despite knowing you will eat food and your mouth most likely will create bacteria, yet we view it unthinkable not to maintain our teeth as we know regular brushing will keep our oral health balanced and healthy. The same principle applies with cleaning windows.We aim to keep a regular schedule with your window cleaning (despite the weather) to keep your windows at a presentable level thus presenting your home in the manner that you wish for.
How Can I prepare for my Window Cleaning appointment?
We require you to have some resident parking permits available for the duration of the agreed upon work. Please remove items from all the window sills and please provide any window keys and have windows unlocked (if they have safety restrictions) and fully shut so they are ready to be cleaned. This will save you and us time and will prevent us from having to restate the above at the beginning of the appointment.

Pricing
Please note that the pricing stated on this site is a suggested reference price based on an average house that takes an hour. Final pricing is subsequent to change based on an assessment of the property (defining time taken to complete) and any additional structures requiring cleaning. Considerations will also be made on whether interior cleaning is to be done and the methods required (Traditional method or Reach and Wash methodology).
Termination
Soap and Blade Window Cleaning reserves the right to terminate future use of our services if we deem our Terms of Use have been violated.
